POE’S FAVORITE “RAVE MOMENTS” OF THE TOUR

The Denver show was in a beautiful old theatre called The Bluebird.  At this show "the rave moment" came during an extended tag that we had attached to the song "Control".  We went into our groove and as people started moving I spotted a kid about 15 ft. from the stage who was seriously busting out the moves.  He was an incredible dancer…very funky…very hip-hop…but smooth and sexy too!  As soon as I saw him I knew I had to get him on stage.  So get him I did.  I pulled up a bunch of others first but finally reached him and literally dragged him up there.  At first he was kind of shy but he was on the spot and after a little begging on my part he just went off.  I was in heaven.  What I loved the most was that it changed the entire atmosphere of that theatre and of that show.  The other folks that I had pulled up on stage naturally gathered around this guy giving him center stage and cheering him on and suddenly I felt like we were all just at a great party in the middle of the street somewhere.  Naturally, because this guy was so good, competitors emerged and, once our new star had had enough, many others jumped to the middle of the circle to show off their moves.  It was fucking brilliant!.

What followed this shameless display was just as good.  No-one wanted to get off the stage so we told them we would just skip the usual ritual of running off the stage and returning for an encore and they could just sit down camp-fire style and we would play "The Five and 1/2 Minute Hallway" to finish things off.  Everyone did just that. Even Siggy sat down cross-legged and played bass, obliging a lovely female fan who asked if she could give him a back rub while he played.  (She really had to twist his arm on that one!)

By the end of the show, playing in that theatre felt like playing in my own living room (Okay, I wish I had a living room that size!) It felt intimate…even a little dangerous…but in a good way…in a way that makes you look at the way things are done in the world and think  to yourself "hmmm…..why not rock the boat a bit, 'cause some trouble, and try to change a few things? Even if it is just changing the notion that the only "rock stars" at a rock show in Denver are the ones you paid money to see. Rock on Denver…you're all rock stars to me!
